enboe Posted January 24, 2018 Share #1 Posted January 24, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) May I request any insights on when and where the lens is available or has been delivered to retail customers? Thank you.
Advertisement Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Hi enboe, Take a look here 75 Noctilux Availability thread. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
onasj Posted January 24, 2018 Share #2 Posted January 24, 2018 I was recently told by my Leica dealer that none have yet shipped to the US. Has anyone found one (that isn't a review sample)?
Linford Posted January 24, 2018 Share #3 Posted January 24, 2018 I received notice today that it is expected to be another month before availability.--lt
johnbuckley Posted January 24, 2018 Share #4 Posted January 24, 2018 If that's true, bummer. I traded in my 50 Noctilux 0.95 and 75 Summicron for one, but as with others, am waiting. No word.

Linford Posted January 25, 2018 Share #6 Posted January 25, 2018 I'm going out of the country on a photo trip in a couple of weeks and was hoping to shoot exclusively with the 50 and 75 Noctiluxes on the M10 and SL. Originally, Leica reps suggested that I would have it prior to the trip. That is not looking to be the case if yesterdays information is correct. I guess I'll have to call an audible.--lt

johnbuckley Posted January 31, 2018 Share #8 Posted January 31, 2018 It's been a week. Any updates?
Linford Posted February 1, 2018 Share #9 Posted February 1, 2018 It's been a week. Any updates? It is so frustrating..... Dead silence. No one is talking. They announce the 75-Summicron for the SL and it is on the shelf in a week. The CL was available immediately, w/ lens. Almost two months and nothing on the 75 Nocti. GRRRRRRR!!!!! Communicate with your customers, Leica!!!

Chaemono Posted February 4, 2018 Share #11 Posted February 4, 2018 I hear some will start to trickle in in March from initially being told at the beginning of the year.

michaelwj Posted February 4, 2018 Share #13 Posted February 4, 2018 You might enjoy the “First World Problems” thread in the bar. Is there such a thing as a zeroth world problem? It seems a bit too extravagant to be merely a first world problem.
Linford Posted February 6, 2018 Share #14 Posted February 6, 2018 Is there such a thing as a zeroth world problem? It seems a bit too extravagant to be merely a first world problem. Lol....It is admittedly a petty problem in the grand scheme of things. There are surely far bigger issues in this world we live in.
onasj Posted February 6, 2018 Share #15 Posted February 6, 2018 This is a 75 Noctilux availability thread within the Leica M lens forum. Yes, there are many problems in the world more urgent than lens availability, or even than photography in general. But it’s a perfectly appropriate thread for a highly anticipated new product in this forum!

onasj Posted February 13, 2018 Share #17 Posted February 13, 2018 Any news on availability? I keep reading how the lens will hit shelves (vaults?) soon. Then again, we heard for months that it would arrive very early in 2018 and we are in mid-Feb

I hope you appreciate that my comment related to the levels of frustration and anger that Linford was expressing in the post I quoted, and not to the thread itself. johnbuckley Posted February 13, 2018 Share #19 Posted February 13, 2018 "Available from the beginning of 2018," it says on the Leica website. If memory serves, this was the same language used in 2012 about the forthcoming M-240, and mine arrived on February 28th. "From the beginning of" a calendar year points to January, but if by March that item has not shipped, then they're behind schedule. No?
onasj Posted February 13, 2018 Share #20 Posted February 13, 2018 (edited) "Available from the beginning of 2018," it says on the Leica website. "From the beginning of" a calendar year points to January, but if by March that item has not shipped, then they're behind schedule. No? I agree from the perspective of a literal reading. I suspect, however, that Peter Karbe and his colleagues are taking their time to make sure no $13,000 lenses go out that have any imperfections, and thus my fear (and hope!) is that they will take as much time as they need to get things perfect with these lenses. If the 75 noctilux is considered anything less than extraordinary, there will be repetitional consequence, not to mention a missed opportunity. But I'm optimistic they will indeed turn out to be as outstanding as we hope based on the previews and early feedback. In the meantime, I have been adding extra upper body exercises to my workout in preparation for hauling this lens around.
