Initial thoughts on the X2

An exquisite little unit...though when I first took it out of the box, I was afraid to put it down, fearing that the first wisp of wind would knock it over.  Its solidity is somewhat hidden, although I can now easily feel it every time I pick it up.

Excellent images.  Not nearly as good as the Sigma DP1 I used to own, but much better than my Panasonic LX3.

I was initially afraid that the field of view might be too wide, but now it seems perfect.  The battery life seems to be remarkably good.  The ergonomics are crappy compared to an M4-P or a Sony A7s, but I guess in a small camera, there's not a lot of real estate for fingers and thumbs to grab on to.

Only two serious gripes come to mind so far:

1) The manual focus is useless.  But luckily, the AF hasn't let me down.

2) It would be really nice if the "light balance scale" was able to stay in the viewfinder for more than 5 seconds.  My limited cognitive skills require at least a minute to figure out what I'm doing, and where I should be going.  So it would be nice if Leica concocted some firmware magic to fix this.

OK, I would agree the manual focus is next to useless for actually focussing on anything that moves.  But one can preset it, using the focussing scale on the screen, snd then it stays put, even when the camera goes to sleep and wakes up again (if one has the latest FW installed).  This is VERY useful in many situations (street, esp.), and exactly what one would do with an M Leica plus 35 mm in the same situation.
