WhoaThere Posted January 20, 2018 Share #1 Posted January 20, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm looking to get a half case with a battery door, probably an Arte Di Mano. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced any issues with the battery door not staying shut when out and about? There doesn't seem to be any way to click it in place and it's just a simple leather flap. I've tried searching and haven't found anything online, so I'm guessing it's not an issue? Thanks, Jonathan

Stonewall Brigade Posted January 20, 2018 Share #2 Posted January 20, 2018 I have the Leica brand half leather case for my Q and it stays on the camera. I also have the Q's grip but I don't use it. Easy to access and remove the battery and SD card, unlike on my M10, via the small door flap on the half case. It stays closed as it should.
falcon468 Posted January 20, 2018 Share #3 Posted January 20, 2018 I too have the Leica Protector and it has been on my camera since day one. Compared to other half cases, I feel that this particular case does a great job of total protection. I found a thread on here somewhere, where a small camera grip could be added. I purchased this item on line. It is known as a Flip Bac G3, and it has been a very handy addition. I don't use a tripod when I am walking around. Further, I have yet to have any battery door issue while it has been in the case. It works as it should. Hope this helps. Thanks.
Donzo98 Posted January 20, 2018 Share #4 Posted January 20, 2018 I have the Angelo Pelle Half Case... with access to battery door. There's a little magnet that holds it in place when it's closed. Interstingly, when I got it.... the opening wasn't quite wide enough to allow free access. I took an Exacto knife to cut it down a touch... perfect now. I'm not sure if the Arte di Mano has the same mechanism.
Leica Guy Posted January 20, 2018 Share #5 Posted January 20, 2018 I have the Arte de Mano half case with battery door. Never been a problem. I worried a little about it early on. After two years, zero issue. Maybe after 20 years the leather will dry out. Given Leica’s very aggressive replacement intro schedule, maybe I’ll be near the end of using my Q3 then. :-)
WhoaThere Posted January 22, 2018 Author Share #6 Posted January 22, 2018 I contacted Arte Di Mano and they confirmed that the battery door on the Leica Q half case has a small magnet to keep it shut.
