I have looked into my possible travel arrangements which may be of interest to others.

Flight from Southampton (my home) to Amsterdam and the train from airport direct to Nijmegen. Should be quite a relaxed journey.

Would like to visit you, but I can't drive in the dark anymore.

Maybe it's possible to spend the night in " Oortjeshekken"  . A rather good Hotel. At the 30th of Juni it will be light for a long time..Consider?

The program up till now will be.I made some changes today, to limit the walking distance to 10.000 meters.

By car arriving: Parking: Keizer Karel garage, Van Schaeck Mathonsingel 22, 6512 AR Nijmegen 550m

Railway: Central station Nijmgen:

650m.

10:30 Meeting near the station. I Have reserved for 20 persons in Cafe van Buren:

Café van Buren Molenstraat 89 6511 HB Nijmegen

We have “windowseats” there or we go on the terras if the weather allows.

11:30 distance 260 meters: We might peak in the “Vereniging “ the concert building nearby (still negotiating)  where there is a reconstruction at the time. The concert building is renowned with musicians for its great acoustics resembling the famous Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, but smaller.

Walking to and around the “Valkhof” “distance 800m.

Het Valkhof. “https://nl.wikipedia...eum_Het_Valkhof

https://www.museumhetvalkhof.nl

Or visit an exhibition with bad weather. Walking to downtown Nijmegen. 400m.

to the Market where there will be a Market on Saturday.

Visit the medieval surroundings of the church.

Stroll along the old shops 1000m

Walk into the old industrial area of the “Honig“- mill at the Waalbandijk. 1000m.

13:30/14:00 Lunch at “Stoom” or’ Steam”: Waalbandijk 14D 6541 AJ Nijmegen a simple pulled pork or cheese bread with something to drink. It’s a hipster place so we might meet interesting models.  I reserved for 20 persons.

15:00/15:30 Walking over the railway – bridge (don't complain about the distance, in WWII the allied forces had to row across...) Seeing the waterworks and bridges recently build. And walking the bridges of the new island  ”Veur Lent“. If you really like you can also swim as do people with nice weather here 2500m

16:30/17:00 Having some drinks with “bitterballs” on the Island. " Veur Lent ". at Cafe Waalzicht:

This Island is recently made. They dug away a huge pile of sand, making an extra river/lake to give more room for the river and its rising water. I’m bringing an old map to show what has changed.

17:30/18:00 Walking over the bridge, walking towards the 105mm gun a last remnant of Operation Market Garden “Het Valkhof. 1800m

19:15/30 Dinner at

Restaurant: Odessa I reserved for 20 persons, but I have to know two weeks before the occasion or you are having dinner or not.

near the Valkhof.

Thank you for such a detailed itinerary which is useful. Some of the walks at the end of a busy day may be quite a stretch for me but I am quite happy to get a taxi if necessary.

Do you have a recommended hotel as i will be staying at least2 maybe 3 nights.

it's also possible to walk from " Stoom " back to the  " Valkhof " and skipping the Island part and seeing us there for dinner at Odessa's.  But a taxi would also be possible. As for a nice hotel:

Hotel restaurant Oortjeshekken, : it's great! lying very rural ( the river in front of the hotel and a swamp with wild horses ) about 7 kilometer off the center.

http://oortjeshekken.mign.nl

But you have to call them quickly if you want. I called them right now to ask if they have room at the moment, they have 4 rooms left ( there are only 11 rooms..) but normally you have to book for fri-sat+ sat-sun ( two nights ) because it's so popular.

Or you can book at Vandervalk Lent : https://www.valknijmegen.nl/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjNfXkarp2AIVarHtCh0hYgLNEAAYASAAEgLCCvD_BwE

it's is just build. In Lent looking over the village. You can walk to the Railwaystation Lent and take a train every quarter of an hour to central station.

Count me in too please. I have very fond memories of participating in the ‘Nijmegen marches’ in the early 90s when I was stationed in mainland Europe with the UK military. It will be great to revisit, and of course to meet Leica friends old and new.
