scott kirkpatrick Posted January 9, 2018 Share #1 Posted January 9, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I took my new APO 60 CL out for a stroll this evening to see about two things -- how well does the AF work with deep shadows and operating from ISO 2000 to 6400? and how does it render distant bright lights when wide open? The second question arises because my APO Macro Elmarit-R 100 shows some coma wide open, as distant lights get smeared out a little, and the effect increases distance from the center of the frame. It handled both challenges well. Here are some examples, all at f/2.8 and 1/60 sec: C1000580 by scott kirkpatrick, on Flickr ISO 5000 C1000571 by scott kirkpatrick, on Flickr ISO 3200 I used single field AF throughout. Advertisement Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Hi scott kirkpatrick, Take a look here Available Dark on the CL. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
scott kirkpatrick Posted January 10, 2018 Author Share #2 Posted January 10, 2018 Two more examples, again at 1/60 sec, but indoors in weak evening light: First at ISO 6400, f/2.8 (nominally correct exposure): C1000600 by scott kirkpatrick, on Flickr and then at ISO 6400, f/5.6, post-processed using Capture One's "shadows" slider @50%: C1000603 by scott kirkpatrick, on Flickr The second (or perhaps both) would be unacceptably grainy for some purposes, but I like them both.
