Susie Posted January 8, 2018 Share #1 Posted January 8, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Guys, I am off to South Africa again soon, and for the first time will be using my M9; up to now I have always used my M6 and film when away. Is there any handy hard-drive available I can back up my photos onto, without having to take a lap-top? I won't need to do anything with the files whilst away, just back them up for safety. Many thanks, Susie

david strachan Posted January 8, 2018 Share #2 Posted January 8, 2018 There are digital wallets...that sort of thing, or you can do what a friend does. Just use you cards once, and store when full. Memory cards are cheap enough nowadays. Enjoy your travels...
Exodies Posted January 8, 2018 Share #3 Posted January 8, 2018 iPhone or iPad will do it (if they have enough space). There are portable disc drives (eg https://www.wdc.com/products/portable-storage/my-passport-wireless-pro.html) which can backup SD cards.
Simone_DF Posted January 8, 2018 Share #4 Posted January 8, 2018 RavPower File Hub. It has a SD Card slot and you can plug a USB external hard drive and copy your files over.
Chuck Albertson Posted January 10, 2018 Share #5 Posted January 10, 2018 iPhone or iPad will do it (if they have enough space). There are portable disc drives (eg https://www.wdc.com/products/portable-storage/my-passport-wireless-pro.html) which can backup SD cards. I have an older version of the WD My Passport Wireless, and it work fine for backup of memory cards on the road.
Chuck Albertson Posted January 11, 2018 Share #6 Posted January 11, 2018 iPhone or iPad will do it (if they have enough space). There are portable disc drives (eg https://www.wdc.com/products/portable-storage/my-passport-wireless-pro.html) which can backup SD cards. If you're not hopping on a plane just yet, WD have announced a SSD version of the Wireless Passport, which is worth considering. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1366289-REG/wd_wdbamj5000agy_nesn_my_passport_wireless_ssd.html I carry a SanDisk SSD that weighs nothing for backup via a light laptop (a Lenovo X1 Carbon 5th gen.) or, in a pinch, the hotel lobby PC that is used for printing boarding passes. Needs must.
LocalHero1953 Posted January 11, 2018 Share #7 Posted January 11, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I travel with a MS Surface Pro. I know you're not taking a laptop, but I wouldn't wish to travel without the facility to review and edit on the go, or post on this forum and other social media. If I feel the need for extra storage for backup, then I use a tiny 128Gb Sandisk Extreme Pro memory stick.
