Dreaded magenta cast - LR with Epson SC P800 -HELP!

I admit, I am hopeless.

For some reason my epson is spitting out images with an extremely heavy magenta cast. It is only coming from lightroom as I tested from another programme and had no issue.

I am using specific profiles for the paper and had no issue a week ago but for some reason I do now.

It is the latest LR CC subscription package. The only thing I have done is purchase Perfectly Clear programme but as I said, it prints fine from another programme.

I have done two courses, one with Leica, on printing but still struggle! Camera is an M10 if that makes a difference.

Looking for some friendly advice other than go back to film.

Sounds like double colour management ... or none at all. One entity has to perform the colour adjustments due to the ICC profiles of the image file, the printer, and the paper. This entity may be the image-processing software or the printer driver—but not both. When printing from Lightroom then bring up the Epson printer driver's dialog box and make sure that the printer's colour management is switched off. But beware—when printing from Photoshop then you have the choice as to who's in charge of the colour management. When printing from elsewhere then the printer's colour management should be on.

Thanks mate, all solved although I'm not certain what I did. I ended up in print settings in LR changing to default settings and that worked. For the life of me I really could not find the driver settings that allowed me to set so LR controlled colour not the printer.

Sounds like you might be using the AirPrint driver instead of the full feature one.

Strongly suggest you take time to learn more about LR, either through video (free ones from Julieanne Kost at Adobe are excellent) or books (Scott Kelby, Victoria Bampton, or Jeff Schewe's The Digital Negative, and The Digital Print).

Later on, you might even consider ImagePrint 10 software, which takes over the Epson print driver and automatically handles all print settings and color management, in addition to providing superb profiles for virtually all papers. But it costs about the same as your printer.

You are not alone...

I've always found PS and LR a pain to print from on my Epson R3000, and other printers.

I keep trying, and keep getting frustrated...borders and colour fidelity are my bugbear.

So often resort to the Epson printer software which is pretty average to use. Don't want to spend a fortune on some advised software.

Tried Q Image for a while...that was the last print software I bought.

It's a long road, and here's good luck to you.

I looked at it differently. IP 10 cost me roughly half of what it would have cost for custom profiling gear, so I got the profiles without effort, and the rest was a bonus. Plus I never again have to deal with incompatibilities resulting from software changes in the Apple/Adobe/Epson chain. Print settings are automatically optimized and effortless, and viewing is always in soft print mode, which saves time, ink and paper.

I'd buy it again for twice the price....still relatively small price considering costs of everything else in the photo chain leading to a fine print.

Add me to those comments and the ones in #5.

If the odject of your hobby is to make regular prints I would definitely download a trial of IP 10.Yes it’s not cheap but for me it works and as a % of my investment in my hobby a small %. Once you work in soft proof mode and realise that “what you see is what you get “out of the printer ,I think you will be impressed.
