I’ve recently bought a M10. I’m wondering which method for Black/White pictures gives

the best result.

Converting DNG’s into B/W via post-processing (silver efex) or B/W directly out of the camera and improved by post-processing.

IMHO, always start with color, then convert to B&W. The flexibility of color manipulation/renditions before conversion to B&W is profound.

Converting to B & W in post-processing allows you at apply filters at the time of conversion.  Shooting B & W in the camera requires that the filter be physically placed on the lens.  The second approach is how Monochrome M users do it, put on the filter at the time the picture is taken.

Where are cameras which are good with in-camera BW. I like M9 "high" :) ISO JPEG1 BW. I like Q in camera BW.

I think, BW appeal and preferences is very personal. I'm not fan of Monochrome BW of any kind I have seen so far.

Why not to try it and see if you are going to like M10 in camera BW?

Print from M-E in camera BW on the left and print from bw film scan on the right.
