Le Chef Posted December 31, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 31, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I feel it takes quite a while to write to the card particularly as I'm saving in RAW and High JPEG. While I'm not doing sports photography there are times when you're shooting street or family gatherings that you miss shots whilst the camera is writing to the card. What type of SD card do you use and what are the specs for writing speed? MTIA!
Advertisement Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Hi Le Chef, Take a look here Which type of SD card do you use?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted January 1, 2018 Share #2 Posted January 1, 2018 I only use SDHC cards but i can't seem to notice significant differences between slow (45MB/s Sandisk Extreme) and fast (95MB/s Sandisk Extreme Pro) cards.
rjans Posted January 1, 2018 Share #3 Posted January 1, 2018 I use different brands depending the camera. For my old Digilux 2 Emtec 2 GB. For my M8 Lexar Pro 8 GB. I also tried Transcend micro SD but I found these to be slow with the M8. Alle other more recent devices (Leica C, X Vario, X Typ 113) Transcend micro SD 64 GB. pico Posted January 5, 2018 Share #4 Posted January 5, 2018 Eventually this SD card variation will settle down. Small comfort for us today. The SD standard has expanded to be more clever to allow greater capacity with almost the same lesser capacity cards with changes to the host OS. I'm retired now and have just plain given up trying to keep up with the bit-twiddling - and besides the dev tools are out of range. Use what works. Be conservative. Many smaller cards are better than huge cards - for stills. (I don't do video, so I dunno.)
