Yes, old lenses are fully compatible with new cameras with very few exceptions. He may need to have the lenses adjusted though, as the mechanical tolerance spans have narrowed, and he might want to have them coded (service offered both by Leica and third-party repair shops) for full digital functionality. I suppose that he is aware that digital photography involves a certain learning curve in postprocessing the images in a computer?

Good luck to anyone aged 91 who can handle a digital Leica M, and the post processing (the most important part of jaapv's advice).

Some people at that age are unable to walk or think straight so it is delightful to hear of an exception.

Do what ever you wish to do ... and have fun! Enjoy the remaining 20 or maybe more years of your life.  :)

Thank you for all your comments I will pass these on to him. He has been using digital for a number of years with his full frame Nikons so is aware of the post processing needed, yes his eyesight is good and he still produces good photographic images but would like to get back to the feel and handling of a Leica rangefinder such as the M10.
