Aldrestop Posted December 28, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 28, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi there.. I’m unable to release the battery from my SL. I tried to rotate the lever but nothing happened. Can someone help me? Thank you.
Advertisement Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Hi Aldrestop, Take a look here Battery Release Lever Not Functioning. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Robert E Posted December 28, 2017 Share #2 Posted December 28, 2017 Did you try pushing in on the battery? It should pop out after you push in on it.
mmradman Posted December 28, 2017 Share #3 Posted December 28, 2017 Providing to start with you didn’t put battery in wrong way round ejection is fairly streight forward; operate battery lever, battery pops out a bit, push battery gently in, battery is released and ready to be removed. If when you operate lever nothing happens I suggest you tap the bottom of the battery with your finger to get it moving. I must say SL battery release is the probably one of the better ones on modern cameras and can’t imagine it faulting, if so I will e corrected. darylgo Posted December 29, 2017 Share #8 Posted December 29, 2017 (edited) This happened with my S. I had placed a label on the battery that added enough thickness to jam the battery in the body, the release did not work. I was able to remove it by pushing the release lever and at the same time pushing the tiny exposed edge of the battery (where it contacts the camera) over slightly. Trial and error, you will see the battery move slightly when pushing the correct position, then you will have to finesse it out if it doesn't pop up. It took time and patience but the battery was removed without damage, the label was promptly discarded. darylgo Posted December 29, 2017 Share #10 Posted December 29, 2017 A rather thick Brother P touch plastic label.
ramarren Posted December 29, 2017 Share #11 Posted December 29, 2017 I've had labels jam batteries a few times. Now I label batteries with a white paint marker.
Bill W Posted December 30, 2017 Share #12 Posted December 30, 2017 If I label, I just label the bottom of the battery.
Aldrestop Posted January 2, 2018 Author Share #13 Posted January 2, 2018 I use blue tack now to release the battery. But sometimes the lever work fine. Still annoying.
Irakly Shanidze Posted January 3, 2018 Share #14 Posted January 3, 2018 did you try to release the battery with the camera in working position, or lens up/down?

Irakly Shanidze Posted January 7, 2018 Share #17 Posted January 7, 2018 Gentlemen, on at least five different SL bodies that I have had a pleasure to touch the battery eject mechanism worked just fine. If one follows instructions and does not "improve" battery design with stickers, this is the best and simplest and the most fool-proof design that I've seen ever. It does not require any additional tools and/or secret techniques. Just read the manual first.
adamkmyers Posted September 19, 2022 Share #18 Posted September 19, 2022 I've found that this works: Move the lever, push in on the battery, then push in again, but lightly and not all the way in. The instructions aren't clear in the literature.
