Donzo98 Posted December 28, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 28, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) When using AF lenses.... the focus point from my previous shot is maintained off center. Is there a fast way to recenter... other than scrolling back with the joystick??
Advertisement Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Hi Donzo98, Take a look here Focus point question.... sorry!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LD_50 Posted December 28, 2017 Share #2 Posted December 28, 2017 No.
Donzo98 Posted December 28, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted December 28, 2017 No. That’s nuts!!! Shooting MF...the point reverts back to center after the half shutter press which I hate. Then with AF...it won’t reset to center, which I hate. LOL... worst of both worlds...
leica1215 Posted December 28, 2017 Share #4 Posted December 28, 2017 the only way is useing dynamic tracking mode and enable the AF tracking "reset position" which I think it is reasonable thought.
ramarren Posted December 28, 2017 Share #5 Posted December 28, 2017 I prefer the present manual focus behavior, reset to center after the exposure, but a quick manual reset would be useful. Retaining the focus point from shot to shot is only truly useful if I'm doing setup/tabletop work with the camera on a tripod or stand.
Steve McGarrett Posted December 28, 2017 Share #6 Posted December 28, 2017 (edited) Yeah, that's a feature of the SL I found annoying, one of the few flaws in a rather smartly conceived user interface. And it sticks in Play mode too... It would be very easy to set a button for reset to center in a future firmware... tangfj Posted November 10, 2020 Share #7 Posted November 10, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry to revive an old thread but anyone know if this is possible to reset to center easily? I'm on the latest firmware on a SL2 but haven't found any way other than using the joystick to manually move it back to center.
Siran Posted November 10, 2020 Share #8 Posted November 10, 2020 I think if you double tap the rear LCD the focus point is put back in the centre. You of course would need to have touch screen enabled. Hope that helps.

Stuart Richardson Posted November 18, 2020 Share #10 Posted November 18, 2020 Is there a way to just lock it in position in the center? I would love if it would just stay put in the center and never move again...I am used to the S and M etc, all cameras which are focus and recompose. I find that shooting with the Sl2, the focus point moves around a lot. I am a left eyed shooter, so perhaps my nose is the culprit...

I have turn off touch screen for focusing, it helps a little. otherwise it is NO

Every camera I owned have this feature, which is really useful. I wish they could add this in a firmware update in the future.
Jean-Michel Posted November 9, 2023 Share #13 Posted November 9, 2023 Super easy to fix: just set one of your function buttons to set the recentrer focus point. I use one of the top buttons for that. To set the function, do the long press and pick the selection you want. 1
