Advertisement Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 Hi Einst_Stein, Take a look here TL firmware 2.2 on T. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ralle111 Posted December 26, 2017 Share #2 Posted December 26, 2017 My T does not recognize T firmware 1.7, but does TL firmware 2.2 It seems Leica would not go back to older firmware. I think I am sticker. Firmware 2.2 is for the Leica SL! 1.7 is the newest one for the T. Do you mix up something?
ropo54 Posted December 26, 2017 Share #3 Posted December 26, 2017 Firmware 2.2 is for the Leica SL! 1.7 is the newest one for the T. Do you mix up something? There was a firmware update for the TL2 and a more recent update for the original T.
LocalHero1953 Posted December 26, 2017 Share #4 Posted December 26, 2017 Firmware 2.2 is for the Leica SL! 1.7 is the newest one for the T. Do you mix up something? SL has been on v3 for some time now. This thread is getting very confusing.
ropo54 Posted December 26, 2017 Share #5 Posted December 26, 2017 (edited) I think Ralle 111 is confused; there was an update for the TL2, which preceded an update for the T; each update was to make the new 18mm compatible with the respective cameras in the T line. In other words, Leica released 2 updates (with differing 'numbers' and on different release dates) - one for the TL2 and one for the T - to accommodate the arrival of the 18mm pancake lens. Einst_Stein Posted December 26, 2017 Author Share #6 Posted December 26, 2017 Ralle 111, in case you don't know yet, SL is now 3.0. TL us 2.2, T is 1.7 It seems TL 2.2 works on T, don't know if any harm yet. But it will block the T 1.7. Definitely not encouraged. Otherwise Leica Would not bother to maintain two difference versions.
Learner Posted December 26, 2017 Share #7 Posted December 26, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) As far as I can gather any firmware for T / TL / TL2 released in the past 10 days was only related to the pancake 18, nothing else. Einst_Stein Posted December 26, 2017 Author Share #8 Posted December 26, 2017 Understand. But some noticed faster AF in T or TL, or TL 2.2 works faster on T. The question is, what is the downside if T is trapped in TL firmware.

Tim B Posted December 26, 2017 Share #10 Posted December 26, 2017 OK, I can answer my own question. Further searching on the Leica website reveals that whereas the T has its own listing for firmware, the TL is included in the APS-C list and has firmware 2.2 as of 21st December, which is to accommodate the new Elmarit-TL 18mm My Christmas brain is still recovering! Starwolfy Posted December 29, 2017 Share #13 Posted December 29, 2017 I find it surprising that you managed to install TL2 firmware on the T. I find it surprising that Leica let you do this without a kind of body version checking before install. I am glad for you that your camera seems to work normally but if I were you I would contact Leica to make them aware of this and also to make sure this will not affect your future T updates (camera and lenses) in the future for you... Moreover, I find it surprising that Leica works on two different firmwares if the TL2's works on the T ?
Yuhau Posted December 31, 2017 Share #14 Posted December 31, 2017 I am totally confused... I have a T .. but if you look at the Leica web .. the firmware for T is 1.7 for the accommodation of the 18 mm lens but if you look at the related instruction for 1.7 version it was referring to 2.2 . Can I ask Ein_Stein : Did you load up the 1.7 firmware for T while the camera says 2.2 , or you loaded 2.2 and got 2.2 ?
Starwolfy Posted December 31, 2017 Share #15 Posted December 31, 2017 In my case I dowloaded the 1.7 version, installed it and my T says it has 1.7 version. I did it 2 days ago and try to understand what you mean by "the 1.7 firmware seems the refere to the 2.2". Could you explain more ?
Einst_Stein Posted January 1, 2018 Author Share #16 Posted January 1, 2018 Do not follow what I did. Just follow Leica instruction, downlad T 1.7 and install it as is. Unless you hit a problem.
LexS Posted January 22, 2018 Share #17 Posted January 22, 2018 (edited) My T does not recognize T firmware 1.7, but does TL firmware 2.2 It seems Leica would not go back to older firmware. I think I am sticker. I have a T, was on FW1.6, connected the new Elmarit 18mm "pancake": then it asked for FW1.7 (which is just only about the Elmarit 18). worked perfect. I am surprised that FW 1.7 can be installed after the FW2.2.... I thought that the TL is on level 1.2 now ??
