Robert M Poole Posted December 23, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted December 23, 2017 They look happy! Works well in monochrome. There were really nice guys. Talking to the kids, letting them take pictures with them. Complimenting my Leica! www.robertpoolephotography.com
StS Posted December 23, 2017 Share #4 Posted December 23, 2017 ...indeed a sight we got used to. I like the tonal range and the smiles. As a side note, the reason for the extended index finger is obvious. Apparently, it became the international standard of the trade. Stefan
Bill W Posted December 23, 2017 Share #5 Posted December 23, 2017 Very nice but a common sight these days. I noticed it when we went through Heathrow to Edinburgh. While we have armed officers in the US, they are not this heavily armed or at least I did not see any.
Bill W Posted December 23, 2017 Share #6 Posted December 23, 2017 The index finger indicates to me that they have been well trained at what they are doing.

I noticed it when we went through Heathrow to Edinburgh. While we have armed officers in the US, they are not this heavily armed or at least I did not see any.Our police aren't routinely armed so this is a rare site and only at places where there is a real threat I suppose. I've seen pictures of cops like this in Time Square New York so I guess it's similar. www.robertpoolephotography.com
Robert M Poole Posted December 23, 2017 Author Share #8 Posted December 23, 2017 (edited) When I was an Army Cadet as a teenager we were told to hold our index finger in this way. I cringe at action films where the hero walks around with their finger on the trigger. www.robertpoolephotography.com Edited December 23, 2017 by Robert M Poole
stuny Posted December 27, 2017 Share #9 Posted December 27, 2017 Delightful. In NYC we often see police happily posing for photos with or without tourists in the photos. I usually have police happily pose for me (such as India and Colombia), but recently in Portugal, no - Perhaps because it was in the Lisbon airport.

Maybe as you say just the location. A very high pressure environment I expect. www.robertpoolephotography.com
