Dr. G Posted December 16, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 16, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I read in an older post that turning the focus ring on a native SL lens overrides autofocus and enables manual focusing without having to go into the menus to switch it. I rented a Lux-SL 50mm and it's not doing that when I need to use MF in low light. Is there a menu setting to enable/disable this feature? Advertisement Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Hi Dr. G, Take a look here Focus ring AF override on SL Lenses?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LocalHero1953 Posted December 16, 2017 Share #2 Posted December 16, 2017 You either set focus mode to manual in the menu, or you half press the shutter and turn the focus ring. Don't take your finger off the shutter button though, or it will revert to AF.
ramarren Posted December 16, 2017 Share #3 Posted December 16, 2017 (edited) Yes: Half press the shutter release, then turn the focusing ring while holding the shutter release at that point. This is best for occasional adjustments to the focus when the focusing system is confused by the scene. I find it most useful to invert this if I'm going to be tweaking focus on a lot of my exposures: Set the camera to MF and set the toggle button action to 'AF when pressed'. That way I can engage the AF system quickly when I want it as an aid, but the camera is always ready for me to set the focus manually AND holds the last focus setting for quick shooting of the same subject.
