Jon Warwick Posted December 12, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Highlights off the S 006 seem to be ok’ish in high contrast bright sunshine .... but obviously not with a lovely highlight shoulder like you get with film, unfortunately. I was curious if you see any difference here between the 006 and the S 007 in terms of “highlight shoulder”? Does the newer sensor render highlights more gently? Thanks Edited December 12, 2017 by Jon Warwick
Advertisement Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Hi Jon Warwick, Take a look here Highlights in bright sunshine - S 006 vs 007?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
albertknappmd Posted December 12, 2017 Share #2 Posted December 12, 2017 The 007 dynamic range is superior to that of the 006 by at least one stop if not more. This allows you to recover more shadow detail while not overexposing the highlights. I ma very pleased that I upgraded. Albert
glenerrolrd Posted January 21, 2018 Share #3 Posted January 21, 2018 Have both S006 and S007 . S007 is always best if you are needing a broad DR ..like beach on a sunny day . Particularly in the light/highlights the 007 does a great job of maintaining a wonderful tone gradient . The S006 has less DR and tends to compress the lights up into the highlights . This is actually terrific if you are shooting portraits in window lighting or on a cloudy day . Not so great in bright sun ..easy to blow the highlights . I prefer the skin tones as captured by the camera out of the 006 and use it exclusively for shooting my grandkids . The 006 not being worth a whole lot used is my back up body when using the 007 and for the family work . For most other applications the S 007 offers far more flexibility .
