Hi there!

Wanted to know if there is a way to use off camera flash on the M Monochrom? I know it has a hot shoe...

Leica flashes will connect to M cameras using Nikon flash cords, as these are fully cabled for the hot shoe contacts.

I have an old Sunpak 622, how would I use that with MM1?

If you don't use TTL flash, almost every flash cord may be fine.

 

I used Minolta cord from my old Leica R days with Sunpak and Metz flashes on my M.

Pocket Wizards. Drop the shutter speed to the next slowest speed from the sync speed (e.g., 1/125 instead of 1/180 for the Monochrom) for consistent results.

Just set it to auto, select the correct shutterspeed and aperture on the camera and flash away.

Pocket Wizards, indeed!  There's nothing special about the Monochrom, or Leica.  Probably any of the legacy Pocket Wizards would work.  I use this one:

When I use a flash with my M-P 240 (which is rarely), I use a set of Phottix Ares wireless flash triggers; these have worked out quite well:
