Standalone (perpetual license) users who make that switch will continue to experience upgrades as they've been accustomed. Adobe has been clear about ending upgrades for the standalone (perpetual license) version at year end. Jeff Ok, the new names are unnecessarily confusing...what is LR Classic then if not the stand alone version? EDIT: so Classic is the same application, but subscription only? I upgrade my perpetual license every year regardless...so while the cost is exactly the same if not cheaper to go subscription route, this is so confusing.
