The SL-90-280mm with the crop factor of the CL and it has OIS...
Advertisement Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 Hi Guest VVJ, Take a look here What native lenses should Leica make for the CL/TL?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted January 14, 2018 Share #22 Posted January 14, 2018 Small f/2 and/or f/2.8 AF lenses with manual focus and aperture rings in 21, 35 & 50mm FL.
jaapv Posted January 14, 2018 Share #23 Posted January 14, 2018 The SL-90-280mm with the crop factor of the CL and it has OIS... It is far too large and heavy for the system. I was thinking of a lens like the DG Vario-Elmar 100-400 one size up.
Ozytripper Posted January 14, 2018 Share #24 Posted January 14, 2018 It is far too large and heavy for the system. I was thinking of a lens like the DG Vario-Elmar 100-400 one size up. Agree. Way too large and heavy Leica 90-280mm - 1.9kg (albeit F2.8 to,,,) Canon 100-400mm - 1.64 kg Fuji 100-400mm -1.35 kg Also 280mm is not 400mm Leica has been doing a great job with the weight on the TL lenses. So good chance we get a lightweight super-tele if Leica decides to make one. Also please don't forget the 1.4x and 2X tele-converter. In birding nothing is long enough
jaapv Posted January 14, 2018 Share #25 Posted January 14, 2018 I tried to use the Vario-Elmar 105-280 on the CL. I gave up. The camera is too light and small. I would sell it, but unfortunately there were no takers on the Buy-and-Sell. It works just fine on the M240 and DMR, so it is really a matter of camera heft. jaapv Posted January 14, 2018 Share #27 Posted January 14, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes, but it proves that the balance is all wrong. I am quite used to shooting it without IS, obviously, but when I hold it on the normal balance point, which is the shell with the tripod mount, the front gets pulled down with the CL; you have to hold it more forward, which is awkward.
FlashGordonPhotography Posted January 14, 2018 Author Share #28 Posted January 14, 2018 A lighter more modern design and a small grip would fix that. Gordon
Ron Weissman Posted January 15, 2018 Share #29 Posted January 15, 2018 +1. Additionally a smallish SEM-like 14mm and a reference lens for 23mm (similar to the 35mm). Yes, a superbly sharp, rectilinear architectural lens (like the SEM 21mm M providing a 21mm field of view) for the TL would be great--as would a tilt/shift lens or lens adapter. I'd be happy with f3.5 or f4.
Starwolfy Posted January 19, 2018 Share #30 Posted January 19, 2018 Architectural lens wouldnt be a tilt-shift ?
Guest VVJ Posted January 20, 2018 Share #31 Posted January 20, 2018 Starting to love the 35mm but tend to shoot wider so a 23mm reference less (in addition to the already available smaller 23mm) would be fantastic!
FeralCoton Posted January 20, 2018 Share #32 Posted January 20, 2018 I don't think so; in general the TL lenses are smaller and lighter than comparable M lenses. For instance the 55-135 TL is only marginally larger than the Apo-Telyt 135 and weighs less - still it is a zoom with AF. It would be a 35 mm Noctilux BTW. That is not really true. Take a look at the monstrous TL 35MM 1.4 or the TL 75MM. the M lenses are far far smaller. Now the original 23mm was compact and slow 18-56 was compact. The newer TL lenses destined for the SL are whoppingly large. Great lenses but huge. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
lct Posted January 20, 2018 Share #33 Posted January 20, 2018 My feeling was all TL primes but one (18/2.8) are bigger than their M equivalent, including the 23/2 which is more bulky than any M 35/2. Am i mistaken?
thighslapper Posted January 20, 2018 Share #34 Posted January 20, 2018 That is not really true. Take a look at the monstrous TL 35MM 1.4 or the TL 75MM. the M lenses are far far smaller. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk once you actually add the humanoid aperture and focus changing mechanism the size is similar the only difference is that with one the mechanism is detachable and can be put in your pocket ........ seriously though ...... the full TL/CL system plus lenses is eminently portable ....... the actual lenses may be larger but they are often no heavier than their M counterparts. The equivalent in SL or DSLR is a real struggle if you have to carry it all day I suspect that any new TL series lenses will be faster...... and hence unfortunately larger, with more of a specialised usage. Guest VVJ Posted January 20, 2018 Share #35 Posted January 20, 2018 (edited) Just to be clear, the CL with battery and TL-35mm weighs 831g, monstrous is not really a word that is applicable here, the Leica M10 with 35/2 weighs 915g... Initially I found the TL-35mm a bit front heavy on the CL but in the meanwhile I seem to have gotten used to it. I personally hope to see a faster and larger 23mm reference lens soon. And zooms with OIS... And a small wide 14mm... And a smaller 35mm... Edited January 20, 2018 by JorisV
Photon42 Posted January 21, 2018 Share #36 Posted January 21, 2018 Leica will probably tell us that their Pro line is preceded by an S, but I guess I would buy a 2/75 macro AF as well as a stabilized 2nd version of the 55-135 and a 16-60 f2.8-4 stabilized
Jared Posted January 22, 2018 Share #37 Posted January 22, 2018 (edited) 14mm Elmarit (f/2.8) 35mm Summicron (f/2) 50mm Summicron (f/2) I'd like all to be as compact as possible, a la the 23mm (though I wouldn't expect anything quite that small). Ideally the 50mm would also have OIS/IS, but not if it turned the lens into something the size of the 35mm Summilux or 60mm Elmarit. That's what I would love to see as far as primes go for the TL2/CL. That would provide my favorite focal length for landscapes (21mm), a 50mm 'carry around' option which I think would be great for street for an AF camera, and a reasonably compact, capable portrait lens.
