farnz Posted December 1, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 1, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Forum member Myvalko from Luxembourg will be visiting London on Saturday 16th December so if anyone is interested in joining us for a walk around to take a few snaps, talk utter nonsense, have a giggle or two and perhaps a pint/whatever and a nibble at some stage then please let me know by replying to this post. The intention is to start around lunchtime to allow anybody travelling from far away a bit of time to get to London. Once I have an idea of interest and numbers I'll work out where to meet etc. Pete. farnz Posted December 11, 2017 Author Share #10 Posted December 11, 2017 Thank you all very much for your replies and David (Myvalko) is looking forward to meeting you all. Now for the details ... The plan is to walk around Greenwich a bit starting with the view from the Royal Observatory and possibly pausing for other entertainments nearby, then back down the hill towards Greenwich town playing it by ear with the following to choose from depending on how we're feeling, how long we take and, of course, the weather: the Indoor Market, the outdoor markets, the National Maritime Museum, the Cutty Sark, walking under the Thames through the Greenwich Foot Tunnel, a walk around Canary Walk and Docklands etc. There are plenty of places to pause for refreshments or bites to eat though Greenwich can be quite busy on a Saturday. I do not intend to make this a 'route march' by any means since some of us are advancing in years so I'm by no means proposing that we get round the whole lot! A gentle stroll at whatever suits is what I have in mind. Some of us might decide to carry on for a bite to eat for dinner later on but we can work that out on the day. The meeting point will be in Cafe Rouge at the front of the Hotel Ibis at 30 Stockwell Street, SE10 9JN. Since it gets dark just after 4pm we'll meet in Cafe Rouge at 11.00. If you're coming by mainline train to Greenwich station from London Bridge or coming via the Docklands Light Rail to Greenwich tube station, turn left when you come out onto the street and walk a couple of hundred metres until you see Cafe Rouge on your right at the second(?) crossroads. If you're coming by private helicopter would you very kindly pick David and me up on the way please? My mobile number has not changed for a decade but if you don't have it please drop me a PM and we can exchange numbers. If you can't make it by 11.00 or you're delayed then please contact me so that we can guide you to where we are. Looking forward to seeing you all on (this) Saturday 16th December at 11.00 at Cafe Rouge in Greenwich. Pete.

I will, as usual, be arriving by personal helicopter. But sorry Pete, only the smallest of my fleet of 4 helicopters is available that day. So no room for passengers, just me and my Leica S gear. But the good news is that my personal pilot has established that he can drop me off on the roof of Cafe Rouge. A battery A Leica M9 Handgrip in silver/chrome finish A Classic Camera 1/2 case, designed to work with the Leica handgrip If anybody coming on Saturday is interested and can make me an offer I can't refuse, I'll bring them along Terry
Susie Posted December 15, 2017 Share #16 Posted December 15, 2017 Hi Guys, If anyone who is going tomorrow has one of those gizmos for colouring in six-bit coding (if you have one you'll know what I mean) would you bring it along so that I can have a look (and a go!) See you tomorrow, Susie Hi, Susie, Do you mean the "M-coder" from Tim Isaacs? I'll bring mine along too but the marker pen has dried up unfortunately so bring along a Sharpie if you have one. I have little use for it now so you're welcome to take it away with you to try it out. Pete.
roydonian Posted December 16, 2017 Share #19 Posted December 16, 2017 Not content with having preventing me from going to a photo shoot on Thursday, the Fickle Finger of Fate has struck for a second time in the same week, so I can't make it today. Have a good day out, you guys.
