A dozen band new in box analogue Leicas for sale!

Just found a haul of about a dozen brand new old stock analogue Leicas for sale in a camera store in Barcelona. Apparently it was a private collection of a guy who collected but Leicas but wasn't a photographer. For sale are:

 

- various M6s in regular and anniversary finishes - there's a very lovely black paint M6 Dragon edition with the M3 style winder

- A few M7s

- Black paint MP

- Numerous R variants from R4 through to R8

- Two contaxt G2s and a complete lens set for both

 

It's quite remarkable. They are being a bit unrealistic with price I think (they want EUR4000 for a regular M6 but also the same amount for the Dragon edition one) but in talking to the guys there, I don't think they really know what they've got or how to sell them. No one is gong to walk in off the street and buy one of these beauties at the prices they are asking.

Some nice gear but, as you say, the asking prices are crazy. €4000 for a #2777xxx M7 (which I think makes it old enough to be the old "flare" finder).

All are too pricey..I can get a new ala carte MP with that used MP price even still have money to buy an accesories and films

The other thing to mention to them is the fact that if the cameras haven't been used in all these years they may well need servicing now.

The M6 2501004 is not a Dragon, but a black paint M6TTL Millennium.  2000-piece edition.  It normally sells for 2500 Euros.

So given that they are all priced wrongly, and wildly so, I would suggest if anyone was interested there is scope for them to negotiate from a position of strength. The guys in the shop by their own admission know nothing about the cameras they are trying to sell.

Combined with the fact that they have been put up for sale in a shop that doesn't know what they've got, there are a whole range of moral quotes that come to mind: "you can't take it with you" for starters.

I'm pretty sure this is Casanova Foto. It's a lovely store to browse and they have plenty of nice used equipment, but I don't think I've ever been in a place with the most wild spread of prices and little or no motivation for some of the high ones.

As for negotiating "from a position of strength" - by all means give it a shot, but my experience has been that they stick to their prices whatever the customer says (and I've tried to buy stuff from them that's eye-poppingly priced on several occasions).
