Jodad Posted November 21, 2017 Share #1 Posted November 21, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Lot of questions from me, i know! Hey again guys. I have seen some pictures of people having put hand grips on their IIIF's and a couple on the IIIG. Apparently the Minolta CLE grip works. Apparently some of the Leica ones fit too. Any ideas which Leica ones (model numbers) work on an IIIG?
Advertisement Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Hi Jodad, Take a look here Which leica hand grip?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
a.noctilux Posted November 21, 2017 Share #2 Posted November 21, 2017 I have never use a grip on IIIg. But few minutes ago, put an M grip 14405 on it, nice combo. Just a bit bulky, make the biggest screw mount Leica bigger. Grip is fine with heavy lens, if LTM lenses could be heavy that is another story. The self-timer can not be used, as usual. The base plate can not be removed. I understand why I've never use the grip + screw mount Leica .
Jodad Posted November 21, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted November 21, 2017 Many thanks for that A.noc! That's exactly what i needed to know. Actually i used to shoot with with Ricoh and few other old SLRs and these were very light with their 50 1.8s relative to the IIIg and MP in my opinion. Well in my mind at least. Plus, i don't like to use neck straps but rather wrist straps. Also when i used the larger SLRs i used to use a hand strap which sort of lashes your hand to the hand grip portion of the cameras. Also, since these cameras had sort of a jutting out hand/finger grip, i found that i didn't need to hold them tight but rather loosely with my fingers only a little curled and that that was very comfy for long term holding. I am thinking that this might make the IIIg more comfortable for me to hold for long periods as well.
