erl Posted December 4, 2017 Author Share #15 Posted December 4, 2017 Voting is now closed. As the organizer of this Challenge, "Seen Through", I feel it is inappropriate that I should be in a position to win the competition. It would be a bit like running a raffle and then drawing my own ticket as winning! This is just a personally held sentiment. On that basis, having enjoyed facing the challenge and come up with an entry, I now disqualify my entry from placement. Now for the winner. It gives me great pleasure to declare DrNo as the winner with 10 votes. Second is Uliwer with 9 votes. Third is thomas_schertel with 8 votes. Special congratulations to the three of you and well done to all other participants who I hope enjoyed the challenge of coming up with a suitable picture. The honour now falls to DrNo to select a topic and organize our next challenge.
octo Posted December 4, 2017 Share #16 Posted December 4, 2017 John, This attitude does you credit, but with all due respect to Dr No, Uliwer and thomas_schertel, you didn't choose the winner: we did; and it's got nothing to do with organizing or not. They are not associated in any way and if your picture turned up tops, so be it! Your status didn't imbue it with magical powers. So, well done, once more, John, and congratulations to Dr No and Uliwer and all those who keep this thread alive and well!
farnz Posted December 4, 2017 Share #17 Posted December 4, 2017 I entirely agree with Philippe. It is a typically selfless and worthy gesture by you, Erl, but unnecessary because you couldn't have manipulated the scores so your picture won fair and square since we, the voters, awarded it the most points. It would also create an uneasy precedent for winners to rule themselves out of competitions they run. My hearty congratulations to the winners for their excellent photos and my thanks to Erl for organising and choosing an interesting and challenging topic. Pete.
erl Posted December 4, 2017 Author Share #18 Posted December 4, 2017 Philippe and Pete. Thank you for your sentiments, but I do feel uneasy about the outcome. It would please me no end if DrNo would kindly agree to take the next Barnack Challenge choice as his honour.
UliWer Posted December 4, 2017 Share #19 Posted December 4, 2017 Erl obviously is the winner, my congratulations to him! I hope Dr. No - my cheers for him as well - will organise the next challenge in spring! I say thank you to everyone participating and for the kind welcome to my contribution.
Dr. No Posted December 4, 2017 Share #20 Posted December 4, 2017 Philippe and Pete. Thank you for your sentiments, but I do feel uneasy about the outcome. It would please me no end if DrNo would kindly agree to take the next Barnack Challenge choice as his honour. I really feel honoured, although I'm not the winner. Best picture is yours, Earl! And, you deserved it! Allright, I will set up a theme and organize the challenge in spring. But be sure to be part of it Earl ! Thanks for any contribution and points. Great theme and nice challenge See you in Spring. OLAF
