I have bought another SL for a friend of mine, when looking around can’t find any SL made in 2017 even in leica store, wondering if anyone of you get SL made after 2017 ?

 

 

Leica store said they don’t see any their inventory production date after 2017, most are made in 10/2016....

No, I mean production date in 2017, I haven’t see any in Hong Kong, even in leica store, so I wonder if factory still making the SL

Due to the lack of prime lenses, SL sales are slower than anticipated. Leica won't make any new cameras until they get rid of at least 90% of the initial stock.

The included inspection card will tell you exactly when it was made.

Interesting - though I dont think it makes any difference.

I bought one in mid October 2017, and after looking at the inspection card I see it was made in Sept 2016?

Like I said - I dont think it makes any difference - great camera.

And we know this how?

 

What we do know is that Leica does its production in batches.  What those batches are, how many get produced and what the sales figures are - projected and actual - we don't know.  That is information which Leica tends not to share.

yes, there is no difference, but isn't it a bit strange, that we don't see the SL production date in 2017? wondering if it is not selling well so all the dealer is digesting the inventory from 2016 and not ordering the SL in 2017? or Leica made too many SL in 2016?

I just got one and it was made 14 months ago lol
