thumb support

Did anyone have problems with loose thumb support? I lost mine the other day when I was changing battery on the street and turned camera upside down. It fell down (ground surface was soft so I didn't hear the drop ). It happened  in Stockholm and the only explanation I could think of, is that because temperature dropped close to zero thumb up shrank little bit and became loose. I felt this loosens couple days before but didn't think much of it.

I've never had an issue with either a thumbs up or the thumb grip for the M10.

My only complaint with the M10 grip, which I returned is that the edge that comes out of the hot shoe is sharp.

Shooting left eyed, one will put a hole in one's forehead. Got too painful. Cheesy for $ 240.

After all this wonderful hightech device was mounted to the hot shoe.....

Maybe it did not adjust to the heat properly because of different material properties....

Why would I use such a useless thing at all???

Thanks everyone , it seems this was one of those unfortunate things .. eventually I end up spending another  £190 for new thumb support. Although I would think that company like Leica could have made better design of the embedded support which is on the body itself

  • 7 months later...

Curious, I went to visit the Match Technical Website, (makers of the Thumbs Up), today and it seems to Not be functioning. I haven't been on their site for many months as I recall.

Does any one know if Match Technical is still in business or why the website is gone?

Should you not use a screw driver and press the springs up a bit so that the items there will be tighter. I think that we had another thread were this (screw driver) was the solution.

I get a page with a fill-in picture and a small box that says "We're making a few design updates to this sign-in experience in mid-June. Learn more

Preview the new design now"  Presumably the site will be back up when they're tired of playing with it.

Pete.

Thanks - and I saw that message but it seemed to be something pertaining to a Microsoft Log in page, NOT the Match Technical site, at least on my browser that is what it looked like.

  • 4 weeks later...

Just an FYI for anyone interested.I checked the Match Technical website again today and the message has finally changed after several weeks of there being just a dead link.

The new info says they are rebuilding the website and it will return, so it's good news for users of their products, they are still in business.

I've had no issues with my Leica M10 thumb grip; it slides in quite snug. I bought mine used because I think the full retail on those things is ridiculous. That being said, I'll probably get the Thumbie; I've had one on my M9 for years and it's never come off, has brassed nicely, a really great piece of kit.
