I'm looking for a less expensive alternative to Leica's own TTL flash units. The Metz 44 series caught my attention. Metz makes a Panasonic/Olympus compatible model and I am curious to know if this would work on an M9?

Have any forum members tried the 44 on their Digital M bodies? If so, feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

It has been asked, tried and reported here and at another forums few times before. Like asking Metz directly and getting response what "no".

Pan/OLy TTL is different from Leica M TTL. Different protocols.

Your less expensive alternative for M9 is simple, central pin only flash. I have couple of those for few dollars in addition to Leica TTL flash and they works like classic non-TTL flash on my M-E.
