phdc Posted October 13, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 13, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm considering getting a Televid 77APO with the 20-60x eyepiece to use for digiscoping with my Leica Q. Does anyone know if the Q digiscoping adapter fits on the older 20-60x eyepiece? The Q adapter is advertised as fitting the current model 25-50x Televid eyepiece which is 5.95cm in diameter whereas the 20-60x is only 5.3cm in diameter. That sounds like a shaky fit. However I've read that the Q adapter is slightly conical so that as you push the eyepiece deeper in it gets more snug. I've never seen/handled the adapter in person.Has anyone else tried this? Thanks, Paul www.paulhowe.com
Advertisement Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Hi phdc, Take a look here Leica Q digiscoping adapter, does it fit on 20-60x eyepiece?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Leica Guy Posted October 13, 2017 Share #2 Posted October 13, 2017 I have the adapter and I’m starting to use it on a Swarovski 20x-60x eyepiece. It’s slightly larger diameter than my eyepiece even when tightened to the limit. I’m thinking I’ll wrap some tape or something around the eyepiece to give it a little more width. I only need about 2 mm. The open diameter of the adapter is 58.6 mm. The closed dimension is 56.1 mm. The diameter of my Swarovski eyepiece is 54.5 mm. The actual closed dimension is a squished circle since the screw tightens on one side and deforms the circle in the process. I hope this helps. I’m happy with the quality of the adapter, but wish it fit my application a little better. I already had the spotting scope or I might have bought the Leica one.
Herve5 Posted November 5, 2017 Share #3 Posted November 5, 2017 Infiniumguy, I'm in exactly the same situation here. I solved the adaptation issue by wrapping some rubber tape around the eyepiece, which presents the advantage of maintaining the same look & feel when using the eyepiece alone... H. Leica Guy Posted November 5, 2017 Share #4 Posted November 5, 2017 How about we add digiscoping images to this thread and hopefully inspire others to do the same?
Herve5 Posted November 7, 2017 Share #5 Posted November 7, 2017 (edited) How about we add digiscoping images to this thread and hopefully inspire others to do the same? At that time I had no adapter at all, just bringing the Q onto the eyepiece others and fullsizes on http://www.ipernity.com/doc/herve_s/41668200 , http://www.ipernity.com/doc/herve_s/41686314 (I'm not sure this forum makes them available?) Leica Guy Posted November 8, 2017 Share #7 Posted November 8, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I posted this image of the moon on the main Q thread last week. It was fun taking it with my Swarovski ATS 80 spotting scope using the Q and adapter. It has a 20x-60x eyepiece. In this case I had it at 20X. I cropped it to eliminate the black barrel effect from the overall image. Pretty impressive detail in my mind given the arrangement. It speaks well of the quality of the Q sensor as well as the spotting scope resolution. Welcome, dear visitor! marcg Posted November 13, 2017 Share #8 Posted November 13, 2017 This kind of photography is not something I've ever tried but it looks very interesting. It seems to me that there could be a basis for opening up a another sub- forum in the images section simply dedicated to this kind of thing
