SL 50 MF focus much smoother

I have just got myself the SL 50 Lens, when put it on i can’t feel it’s locked to the body, “no click” sound. the MF focus ring much smoother and not as stiff as the 24-90 , anyway it locked to the body and MF is fine so no complain.

 

Will try to shoot some pics tmr.

Enjoy your lens. Leica's fly by wire focusing is excellent. It feels like the real thing most of the time.

 

How do you find the size of the 50? Do you like the balance of the larger lens on the SL?

it feels denser than the 24-90, solid, all pack in small package. The 50 is shorter in length more balance, but feels heavier too.

Can anyone compare image quality of the new SL 50 versus the %0/1.4 ASPH?

Also, any comments on which lens would be best for street photography.

You can find a couple comparisons online between the M and SL 50s.

 

For street photography the M lens will be much smaller and therefore more discreet. It has well defined focus markings whereas the SL lens requires use of the top screen for the same. The SL lens offers weather sealing and AF may occasionally offer an advantage in street photography.
