Just ordered the Q...

I had purchased the RX1R ii from B&H about a week ago.  When it came it had a small defect on the screen so I knew I was going to have to return/exchange it.  Since I had the camera in hand I decided to rent a Q to shoot along side the RX1R.  The first day of shooting I thought I the RX1R was going to be the keeper, but things changed on the second day.  When I got home from work I decided to take a few shots around the house.  My wife loves to decorate for halloween and we had a few little displays set up in dim light.  I consistantly got blurred images with the Sony.  The Q focused more quickly and exhibited no motion blurring at all.  AS I started to move around the house a bit more, using both macro and standard settings and it was very clear that the Q was much more reliable in capturing images.

 

Low light is something that is important to me.  I do a fair amount of culinary events where I'm taking photos in dimly lit restaurants.  I'm sure I can adapt to the 28mm when shooting plated dishes, plus the 1.7 gives me the advantage of using a lower ISO.  

 

The Sony is going back and the Q is ordered.  Now the waiting begins.

Welcome to the Q fanatics group!  We all love our Qs even though most of us have other systems as well.

For 99% of my images, the Q excels in every way.  

The Q is in my hands while the DSLR and lenses remain locked in my car's trunk.  Only comes out when needing a particular lens.

Don't let 28mm slow you down.  I love having the extra crop room for post-processing recompositions.

With careful, steady, hand shooting, I've printed 50mm perspective at 13"x19" with very acceptable results and happy clients.

You will soon become addicted to your Q.

 

Side note: recent hand surgery and cast have ruined both guitar playing and camera usage -- except that I can use the Q upside down with body braced against my forehead and shutter controlled by my left thumb.  Can't do that with DSLRs and their multitude of buttons.  For this technique, all In did was make the EVF permanently on, no LCD usage at all.  Very steady camera technique!

hope your recovery comes quickly - for the leica and also for your ramirez ( or possibly an old gibson sg as in my case)

Just ordered mine too. Promised delivery in October. I would have preferred the titanium model, but that cannot be ordered anymore. I'm really looking forward to get my hands on it. I have had Nikon SLR for years but need a smaller and more quiet camera. I already have a Leica C, which is going to be my wife camera. I have seen all the amasing photos in this forum, and look forward to show mine :-)
