Hello,

 

I enjoy this forum and want to introduce myself.  My name is Dean and I live in Wisconsin, USA.   I'm a new member and new to Leica cameras.  I've owned a D-lux (typ 109) for about 6 months now, and prior to that a little Leica C, which impressed me so much that I decided to change to Leica and upgrade to the D-lux (typ 109).  I was well aware of the Panasonic connection with both the C and D-lux, but felt more comfortable going with the Leica versions due to my expectations of good quality control, and hearing of the great customer service.  I haven't been disappointed. 

 

Prior to starting this journey into the land of Leica, I've owned many cameras and systems. Four-thirds (including the Panasonic L1 with the wonderful, but large, Leica zoom), m43 OM and Pen, and a lot of compacts.  Most recently I'd been using a Fujifilm X100T for about 2 years as my sole camera.  Very nice, but I needed something with a zoom for certain photos (my wife has Icelandic horses and I like to photograph them, but having some extra reach over the 35mm eq focal length is really useful for that). That's when I found a used Leica C and the rest is history. I was so surprised by the clarity and sharpness of that 28-200mm collapsible lens, and knowing what compromises are required to design such a compact yet good quality lens, found me wanting to explore the D-Lux 109 with it's larger sensor.  

 

One of my priorities is to keep my camera on the small side so I've mainly explored the Leica compacts, and about a month ago I found a nice Leica X1 with grip and OVF.  This has replaced my Ricoh GR II, which had itself replaced the Fujifilm X100T .  So for APS sensor compacts I've gone to a 12 mp 7 year old camera, and I'm loving it!  

 

So at present my entire kit consists of the D-lux typ 109 and X1.  Hoping to keep it that way, nice and simple.

 

Very excited about the D-lux and X1.
