Do you guys have several adapters and just leave attached to the M lenses when stored, or do you just leave the adapter on the SL??

I currently have 2... and have been leaving them attached to the lenses when stored... but I only have 4 M lenses.

Just wondering...

'Only have four M lenses' :D

I only have two and I leave the M adapter on the SL and store the unused M lens in its pouch.

I'm going down to 3 soon :)...

I have the Voigt 15mm F4.5 III and an incoming 10mm F5.6... not gonna keep both.

And a dedicated assistant for each pair of cameras.     :p            And several golf carts.     Or Segways for the small budget.

Naturally. Mind you, the assistants should wear white gloves at all times and have sheets of microfiber cloth hanging over the arm.

I don't know, it sounds a little excessive but I did notice that Leica has been making much bigger lenses and bodies lately. Is it the golf carts and the assistants? Maybe that's prompted them to design differently from their past. The need for liddle fiddly pieces of tiny lenses has sort of gone away.

Personally, I think an M10 for each of the 28, the 35 and the 50, and dedicated SLs for the 80 and the 100 macro is about right.  That might require the gold golf cart and a caddy.  The caddy would look a lot like Gene Smith in his 3-5 camera days.  I forgot to mention a train of native bearers bringing up the 90-280 when required.

Scott, you forgot to mention that there have to be at least six 90-280, each set to a fixed focal length. This is to prevent wear and tear of internal parts and thereby ensure the highest image quality possible for years to come.

I have eight R lenses and five M lenses. It would be ridiculously expensive and a waste of resources to have one adapter per lens. I have one M Adapter L and one R Adapter M.

  • When I'm using R lenses on the SL, I tend to leave the two adapters stacked on the body and ONLY use R lenses.
  • I don't use any but the WATE of my M lenses on the SL, and I tend to use that with the SL24-90 as a pair, so in that case the M Adapter L stays on the lens when I'm out in the field and I change lenses using the native mount.
  • I also use the R Adapter M to adapt my Macro-Elmarit-R 60 or Summicron-R 50 to the BEOON for negative copy work, and then I use the M Adapter L to put the SL body on the BEOON. These are the best two lenses I have for high magnification work.

Works for me...
