The first one is truly idyllic.

How did the Elmarit break?

Thanks @klinerm.

When I got back I noticed there was a rattling inside the lens then I noticed the aperture ring wasn't moving the blades and it was rotating past the left and right stops. When I went to dismantle it I found the front element wouldn't remove to get at the aperture assembly so it is terminal.

BTW I took a shot with it since and it was fine but only can use the smallest aperture no adjustments.

Did you use the elmarit 21 asph or the elmarit 21 ? Thank you for your answer, Topsy !

It was the Elmarit M (60mm filter thread size) the older one.

I have now replaced it with a 55mm ASPH version.

I do enjoy the 21mm FoV with my M9s so I had to replace it.

If I had to keep just one camera this would be the one, despite all its limitations.  My contribution to the archive, a hand held panorama in two rows of two images each, taken last summer. M9-P

I photographed a halo, or ring around the sun today in Harvard, Massachusetts., at the Fruitlands Museum. The sculpture Pumanangwet - he who shoots the stars, is in the foreground. I thought black & white worked better than color. Sculptor is Philip Shelton Sears.

I shot this with my newly replaced 21mm Elmarit (ASPH). Out of camera JPG with just a slight WB adjustment and resize for the Forum.

I used this picture in a 50mm only picture post. I made it with my M-E and it still amazes me.
happy day!
