If you tell us the lens is a 35, I would believe it. I want one of those, beautiful!

Sorry, defo 21mm. I did take one with a 35mm Summicron though see below. Both were cropped slightly but just to remove some unsightly scrub around the edges that I couldn't do in camera.

Prefer the 21, for this shot :)

Me too that's why I first posted it I only put the 35mm one up to show Roberto. I don't think the 35 is bad per-sae but the 21 is just framed better, the gate is a bit off level in the 35 fixable in post but not really worth the effort, as you say the 21 has the job done.

I'm going to be difficult (as usual) and say I prefer the 35mm version. It's all about the light... how it's falling on the wall to the right of the gate and on the ground. How it's illuminating the two upright stones and the gate itself.

I agree the light is nicer on the 35 shot but that's down to 2 things really, both in PP. The 21 was underexposed by about 2 stops so I lifted it in LR but didn't think it would be good enough for publishing so went to the 35 shot which was spot on. The light was pretty flat for both shots (I took them on 2 different cameras so pretty simultaneously) so I used LR Radial Tool and lifted the exposure in the centre whilst leaving a slight vignette around the outer edges. Truth is I was too lazy to do the same with the 21 but will re-visit it later and see how I can liven it up. TBH I rarely do this much PP on M9 files as I don't find they need it, except of course when I mess up the exposure. I don't chimp so I didn't know I'd messed up until I was home.

The reworked version of the 21.

😬 I still prefer the 35 version due to those patches of light.

Edit... if you really want to see what I mean, convert them to monochrom, the 35mm will leap out at you :)

May well do that later, meantime here's one I shot today with the 35mm.

Yes in mono it does stand out, however, I still prefer the 21 because the composition is better IMHO. I tend to think a good photograph depends on 3 things in this order, good subject, good composition and good light. I think in the 21 the compositioon trumps the better light but that's only my opinion and very subjective.

The 21.
