I totally agree and have blocked several members the last months too. This message counts in my view also for the nasty habit of posting the same image in two different threads.

Overall I agree with the above sentiments,  sometimes though a single image is relevant to 2 different categories.. 🍷

That is only a problem with “overlapping” threads. I see no harm in posting in the photoforums and in a dedicated lens or camera image thread for instance   But I agree that the poster must exercise good judgment

In that case please use the “other media” option not to waste storage space.

I think, people who wish to post several shots should open their own thread and post as many as they wish in their own thread! But posting so many "singles" or even "set" in a forum that is also used by other photographers is making a mess for everyone!

Jaap, thank you very much for mentioning this issue in this forum that is really becoming a headache!... ( Actually, I noticed the same people making the same thing in some other forums!)...

Sounds like you want to Police the forum. I really cannot see how if 1, 3 or 10 images are Posted it matters! As long as they are within the guidelines.  No one forces anyone to open, look or comment on any image or images. If a Moderator wants to delete, close or do whatever they feel necessary- so be it… It could be ruled that only 1 image per Thread can be Posted within a 24hour period. We are ‘photographers’ we want to see photographs. 🍻

Thank you "dead boring" is correct, especially when the images themselves are mostly the same and do not appear to have been post edited. In my older age however, sometimes I have to check my attachments to see if I have already posted a certain image as I do not want to post it twice. I have even asked moderators to delete duplications of said images however sometimes I inadvertently post the same image twice, much to my dislike for such a thing.

We are all different, PP is personal, if, an image of a MB G Wagon is offered in 2 different Threads, I see no reason to change the image as long as it’s within the guidelines! 🍷

In general the moderating team follows the guidelines and judges each case on an individual basis. We are flexible though as photography cannot be “regulated” in rigid rules. Over the years only one member has ever been banned over this and one other led to a period of post approvals and has been resolved, all others have been resolved in good harmony.
The basic guidelines can be found in my first post.

This thread is suffering from overposting by a few members; I have hidden some posts. It is a an unwritten convention that we leave space for other participants.

The reason is twofold:
Overposting drowns out the other posts and, as important, if one floods a thread, the viewers lose interest and won't even look at those posts any more. It is equivalent to hogging a conversation.

So:
Please don't make endless posts with a large number of images, they are deadly boring, and don't post more than three or four images per day.

On a side note, best not to link to Flickr and similar. The links get broken all too often, losing the images for the forum and creating empty posts.

If things get out of hand, moderation will step in; this is not a hosting site.

Perhaps a suggestion on how this could be better regulated in the future. But first I have to say that I have to put on this shoe partially, even though I upload each picture only once and then show it via "other media" in other threads.

In order to do justice to as many aspects as possible, you could offer a higher flow of images several times a day in the "Favorite images" area and additionally add a selection menu. So if I'm interested in 90mm images in general, I click on the filter and then (of course only if the information is maintained by the people who have uploaded the pictures will be searched for) Could solve a lot of problems in the medium term...

Also, is this thread limited to posting images with Leica gear or not? Since using that Firefox plugin which gives out all exif info in an image posted in forums like this, it’s clear that a lot of the images posted here have been shot using Sony point and shoot cameras etc. Don’t mind either way personally, but if there’s no rule there, I may as well post images shot using other gear.

And thanks for the tip about an EXIF plugin. I'll have to check if something similar is available for Safari. I'm so sick of everyone who doesn't state what kind of equipment is used, that I often refrain from giving likes for that reason. After all, this is a brand-based forum, so the gear matters, at least to me.

The favorite images is an algorithm lottery anyway. Far too often images with less likes turn up over ones with more and only the extremes get (not) displayed correctly.

Btw, there’s also a moderator who posts large numbers. The thread ‘Barnack’s Monthly’ is also notorious for going berserk with loads of insignificant images or images that are far away from the topic asked for.
