Ken, I have been meaning to say for a while how much I appreciate your attention to detail and structure in every frame. Every element of this image is balanced and has visual meaning, even if the subject is not based on some big expression or loud component. Its quiet, distilled, and interesting as so many of your pictures are. There are a lot of stories here and that is where Leica photography shines. Thank you.

Thank you Romquest, yes I do like to achieve a kind of stillness in my images. There is a fine balance not to over do it too much. In this case I was (rightfully) criticised elsewhere for cleaning up the laneway of cigarette butts which I thought were distracting details in this picture. When I saw the moment he took a last drag on that smoke I knew he had to go back to work and in that moment drawing back, his "last peaceful moment would end". I cleaned up the butts however they could have also been a part of this image's story. I think the subtlety is lost on some perhaps, Both images work I must say however creamy smooth laneway suited my current workflow for showing an alternate, still (distilled is a good description) reality.

Many thanks
