Colin -

In my opinion this is just short of superb, only held back by her being centered.  By pure luck it first appeared on my screen with most of the area to the right cut off until I 'shrunk" the image display on my screen.  In that view I find it truly superb.

Hi Stuart,

That's extremely kind, thank you. I agree about it being centred, can be a bit predictable to always have the subject bang in the centre of a shot. I'm really enjoying shooting Kodak Portra in a vintage meter-less Leica M. This was F5.6, 1/15th of a second, in the depths of the London underground, as a train passed by in the background.

Best wishes,

Colin

There's that look of anticipation, yet there seems to be something of hesitation in her eyes peering down the track. She's isolated, motionless, while the background blur of mass transit creates that dialogue to answer her question: "Is that my connection?" The complementary colors of her blouse perfectly connect with the red blur. And that background, partitioned into thirds, two-thirds red and one-third white, helps offset the centered subject Stuart mentions. She looks real. Something is happening here.

While riding my bike yesterday I noticed this Fibonacci spiral when a cyclist rode through the tunnel. It reminded me of a photograph made in Hyères in 1932 by a certain French photographer. I made a few photographs and returned today to the same spot because the light was a little softer.  MM and 50 Lux.

Totally awesome! Noticing a Fibonacci spiral fractal means that you must certainly know of Darren Aronofsky‘s Pi. A fraction of a second sooner or later, you would not have had the shot. Perfect! The play of light against dark and the decidedly three-dimensional effect with the pathway on the left against the tunnel on the right with a transit of your bicyclist makes this a really dynamic composition, iconic.
