A (sadly) great trio of images that tell the story all too well.

I believe I have seen a TV documentary on that art school. It was truly an impressive institution, both architecturally and historically.

Shot these on my M Monochrom mk1 last night. It's the fire which ripped through the world famous Glasgow School of Art. The second fire in four years. There seems to be very little left of the interior. You could hear what sounded like floors collapsing. Very sad indeed.

First picture was shot on a 28mm Summicron ASPH mk1, the other two on a 50mm Summilux ASPH black chrome.

As photo-reportage, this stark narrative is particularly affecting: the scene of the tragic fire and the futile attempt of fire fighters to save the structure, the crowd dumbstruck (three with hands to mouth) can only watch the incineration helplessly, and then your third shot focused on traffic control police renders the tragic spectacle out of focus, blurred oblivion. Thanks for shifting your news photographer instincts into overdrive and sharing this photo-narrative.

Colin, how terribly sad that this famous and very special building has been devastated again!

Lex

It seems quite incredible that this could happen twice. The building is now just a shell. Too early to know what its future might be. Also very sad is that the O2 Arena next door was destroyed too. That was a great venue to see bands in.

These three people formed an interesting line in the rain.

The rain was white.

Yet the white was certainly bad.

It bled on these people.
