I'm fortunate to live in Bergen (Norway) where this years World Championship is hosted. So far we have been blessed with wonderful weather, happy locals celebrating, a beautiful town and the best athletes in the world competing. I brought my M246 and a 50mm and was lucky to find a spot right after the finish line of the Women's Team Trial. It was harder than I thought but I tried to pre-focus and set the exposure at a certain point in front of me. The photos are by no means very good, and I have to admit most of them are more or less cropped - something make a point of not doing otherwise. I hope you'll like them:

I'm a little new to the forum.

I used to race AND shoot locally for a paper. Bicycle racing is tough enough with auto focus and a motor drive, let alone the way you shot it.

I think they're nicely done, but for me the third one down tells the story of how the racing went. My favorite of the group.

Great shots, and a venue that we don't photograph enough IMO

As was noted in another thread about shooting sports with an M, if you focus on a fixed location and wait for the subject to enter it is possible to succesfully capture moving objects at some speed

In this case it looks like a fast shutter speed helped also

Thanks guys :) The championship was fantastic. The locals really put on a great party as did the competitors.

Nice work, Christian. I grew up racing road and track (and found out where I stood when I tried doing it for a living back in the 1980's... ), and often use the M246 / 50mm combination for track racing. The easy part at the track is that they come back around again :)

Thanks Christie - I have to say I enjoy your photos from these competitions. I would love to go and see something similar. Btw, that is a great action photo; the speed visible through the blurry movement, the pose and her focus ahead! Love it!
