SF40.

Has both TTL and manual (but not a thyristor auto mode). FEC from the dial on the flash. Bounce and swivel. AA batteries. Decent power and balances well on the M.

It's a stupidly expensive rebadged Nissan i40. But you just have to suck it up and pay the Leica tax.

Gordon, is there any form of illumination of the dials to help change settings in very low light, or do you do it by learning the click-stops much as you might with aperture settings on M lenses?

Hi Gordon, can you confirm the SF40 works on M7 because i cant find anything online on that. Also, does the SF24d works on M10?

Just want to make sure before i get one. No return/exchange where i buy.

Thanks.

I second the SF40. A good balance of small size and good power, reasonable feature set, TTL works (usually). Mounted on the M10 I find the balance and proportions to be reasonable.

Of course many are drawn to the M10 for its low light capabilities, but almost any low-light photo can be made even better by a nicely bounced flash, when that's possible to do. The dynamic range of the M10 is much better at ISO 100 than at ISO 8000.
