farnz Posted September 16, 2017 Share #7 Posted September 16, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) That's a very impressive green and black focus-puller on your Summilux asph, Jaap! Of them all I think the chestnut brown leather on your silver chrome M9P looks the nicest. Pete.
Jeff S Posted September 16, 2017 Share #8 Posted September 16, 2017 (edited) Mine are stock, but of these, I think I like the green one best, although all are nice. The only one that was a bit over the top for me was one of Jaap's from years ago.... can't remember the color/ pattern.... but I think it was on the Monochrom, or maybe an M8. pico Posted September 16, 2017 Share #9 Posted September 16, 2017 (edited) Thank goodness there is not an ostrich skin in the lot. It reminds me of run-away skin disease. Edited September 16, 2017 by pico

Keith_W Posted September 17, 2017 Share #12 Posted September 17, 2017 I visited a friend recently, and he showed me an M3 with sharkskin leather. It is so much better than the cow leather they use these days - it's grippy, almost like sandpaper. Why don't they even offer it as an a'la carte option these days? It is so much better than the cow leather they use these days - it's grippy, almost like sandpaper. Why don't they even offer it as an a'la carte option these days? Because they can't get the right size sharks? Pete.
jaapv Posted September 17, 2017 Author Share #14 Posted September 17, 2017 The "Sharkskin" Leica used was a synthetic material. It can be compared to the present-day Griptac by Cameraleather. I'm surprised this was an M3, most were Barnack cameras. https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/259098-sharkskin-leicas/
Herr Barnack Posted November 6, 2017 Share #15 Posted November 6, 2017 What an amazing collection! I'll second that. Jaap is obviously a man of wealth and taste (with apologies to Sir Michael Philip Jagger).
jaapv Posted November 6, 2017 Author Share #16 Posted November 6, 2017 Emphatically not of wealth I've spent too much on Leicas for that...

dsj Posted November 27, 2017 Share #18 Posted November 27, 2017 Thank you Jaap, these look great. Of all the Leica special editions the one I always liked the most was the Hermes MP with cognac coloured leather. That a la carte option on the left you got there comes very close to that. Did you order them like this or did you get the leather changed later? Does anyone know what Leica charges for an a la carte leather being applied to a customer's camera? jaapv Posted November 27, 2017 Author Share #19 Posted November 27, 2017 All of these were changed later, sometimes a number of times. On occasion I have used Cameraleather DIY- quite nice and affordable price, but these are all by Leica. As for the current price, you'll have to ask Leica CS.
Sandokan Posted December 4, 2017 Share #20 Posted December 4, 2017 The point though is, do you have matching outfits for each of them?
