NB23 Posted September 12, 2017 Share #2 Posted September 12, 2017 It's not 39mm
lct Posted September 12, 2017 Share #3 Posted September 12, 2017 ø 39mm with a specific filter thread pitch.
Rus Posted September 12, 2017 Share #4 Posted September 12, 2017 the summicron-C 40/2 needs a series5.5 adapter to receive a standard 39mm filter. the Minolta one I think has a standard 40.5mm filter thread?
Ko.Fe. Posted September 12, 2017 Share #5 Posted September 12, 2017 Yes, Minolta-Rokkor 40 f2 has 40.5 filter, just like almost any FSU RF lens.
NB23 Posted September 12, 2017 Share #6 Posted September 12, 2017 (edited) So it's not 40.5? I was lucky to have the special ring on mine and regret having sold it. It's an amazing lens Edited September 12, 2017 by NB23
lct Posted September 12, 2017 Share #7 Posted September 12, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) ø 40.5mm is M-Rokkor 28/2.8, 40/2 and 90/4 for Minolta CLE lenses. Edited September 12, 2017 by lct
pop Posted September 12, 2017 Share #8 Posted September 12, 2017 the summicron-C 40/2 needs a series5.5 adapter ... I didn't know that, but indeed: the rubber lens hood for the 40mm Summicron has written on it: 12518 - C2/40 - 5.
a.noctilux Posted September 12, 2017 Share #9 Posted September 12, 2017 (edited) Is the filter thread pitch different than other lenses with 39mm threads? From Wiki: Summicron-C 2/40mm Filter type - 39mm x 0.75mm 5.5 series See this page: https://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/40mm_f/2_Summicron-C Typo... With in the page to be corrected Marco Cavina in place of Mario Cavina in "Reviews" Edited September 12, 2017 by a.noctilux
jaapv Posted September 12, 2017 Share #10 Posted September 12, 2017 And the only new 5.5 adapter online - by Heavystar- has an incorrect thread, which can result in the adapter binding severely on the Summicron 40. I had to have Will van Manen remove one by cutting it. The original lens hood, obviously, is fine. One can fit a 5.5 series filter behind it, or even the glass from any 39 mm filter. (which will rattle a bit)
jaapv Posted September 12, 2017 Share #11 Posted September 12, 2017 Is the filter thread pitch different than other lenses with 39mm threads? Yes, 0.5.
Soden Posted September 12, 2017 Share #12 Posted September 12, 2017 39mm filter is not usable on either Leica/Minolta/Rokkar CL lens. Both the 40 & 90 came with a series 5.5 hood/holder. That hood/holder screws into the standard 40.5 threads on the lenses. Which means you can use 40.5 filters on either lens or series 5.5 with the holder/hood. Mixed things here Summicron-C 2/40mm original would never accept 40.5 mm filter that later M-Rokkor (for CLE then) accept (E40.5 filter not E39): - for CL , original Summicron-C 2/40mm or M-Rokkor for Minolta CL and Elmar-C 4/90mm filter serie 5.5 - later M-Rokkor 2/40mm (for CLE) and 4/90mm accept filter E40.5 credit a.noctilux
UliWer Posted September 12, 2017 Share #14 Posted September 12, 2017 (edited) The Leitz Catalogue for 1976 says: "Filtergröße Serie 5,5 ( Durchmesser 36mm). Filter werden von der Gegenlichtblende gehalten." (Filters are kept in place by the hood.) For the hood it says: M39x0,75 Edited September 12, 2017 by UliWer
lct Posted September 12, 2017 Share #15 Posted September 12, 2017 Yes, 0.5. You mean 0.75 i guess.
pop Posted September 12, 2017 Share #16 Posted September 12, 2017 I can confirm that a 40.5mm filter will not fit on a 40mm Summicron-C
jdlaing Posted September 12, 2017 Author Share #17 Posted September 12, 2017 I can confirm that a 40.5mm filter will not fit on a 40mm Summicron-C I can too. 40.5 won't fit. A 39mm will thread but only about one turn. That's why I asked if the pitch is different.
Soden Posted September 13, 2017 Share #18 Posted September 13, 2017 It was my understanding that the Summicron-C f/2 40mm is the same lens as Rokkar-M f/2 40mm. Only difference is who sold it. Leica vs Minolta. Apparently not as 40.5 fits my version.
lct Posted September 13, 2017 Share #19 Posted September 13, 2017 40.5mm Rokkors referred to above are lenses for the Minolta CLE, not Leica or Minolta CL.
Soden Posted September 13, 2017 Share #20 Posted September 13, 2017 (edited) 40.5mm Rokkors referred to above are lenses for the Minolta CLE, not Leica or Minolta CL.Interesting, bought this as a set. Leitz Minolta CL, 40.5 Rokkar 90mm and a 40.5 Rokkar 40mm. The 40mm was made in Japan and 90 was made in Germany. All from my leica dealer. So you are saying this set was comprised from different generations? Edited September 13, 2017 by Soden
