Reminds me of my father's company car, a similar VW bus T1 (but without curtains ), with which he drove his steady growing family on weekends to the grandparents living in the countryside. Heavily loaded the horsepower weak VW bus drove slow and slower on mountain ranges and the gear had to be switched very often and diligently by hand of course.
