A digital camera has one natural look but a film camera, with its replaceable sensor, has as many natural looks as there are film types. One result of having a single digital sensor is the creation of post processing tools to simulate different films (never seen tools to simulate different digital sensors).

Do film developers use darkroom techniques or post-scanning Lightroom tools to simulate different film types, or digital sensors?

Are there post processing methods to simulate different printing technologies on an inkjet printer?

I think the main method to simulate different printing technologies on an inkjet printer is to choose from the wide variety of paper types.  It is not just finishes, but also variations in the maximum density black that can be achieved.
