Developing Film taken by Leica 1 Model A

I hope this is in the right section and sorry if it has been asked before.

My 1929 camera has an Elmar lens and I generally use Ilford HP 5 film (although I also use Pan F, occasionally)

I tend to develop for about 6.30 to 6.45 minutes but have read somewhere that I will get a better negative if I develop for longer, perhaps 7 and a half minutes?

Photographs can be a bit light and sometimes contrasty but this may be just down to the lens which I am trying to get cleaned, I suppose.

Developed for what outcome? Digital scanning or darkroom printing, please?

Your lens is almost certainly uncoated - which would probably produce a bit lower contrast than a modern coated lens. I can't recommend specific times but I would expect to develop a little longer than if the film was exposed with a coated lens. Maybe 10% more, but that is a simple guess. Test, test, test.
