wlaidlaw Posted September 2, 2017 Share #1 Posted September 2, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Just this last week, I have started to get odd emails from Leica owned/managed organisations. 1) I got an email from Leica Store Mayfair, saying an M10 was unexpectedly available and as I was on the waiting list, if I sent payment by the end of the day, they would send it by courier the next day. I had never expressed any intention of buying an M10, had never gone on an M10 waiting list and was not on any waiting list for anything from Leica Mayfair. They just said the email was an error but could not explain why I was on the M10 waiting list. 2) I received an email from Leica Paris, saying that my order for a T2 was delayed. I have never intended to buy a T2, had not put one on order with Leica Paris and had never discussed such an order with them. Leica Paris had never been given my email address but only my telephone number for an order of a new M7 base plate. It turned out when I phoned them about the T2, that they had lost the M7 order and never passed to Wetzlar anyway, so I have now bought the base plate advertised by an HK dealer. 3) I have received a sales email today from Leica San Francisco, with whom I have never had any dealings. As the last time I was in SF was 1992, I am not an obvious customer for them. Is anyone else getting random and strange offers or emails from Leica organisations? pico Posted September 3, 2017 Share #3 Posted September 3, 2017 (edited) Never had such. The first suspicion is that someone in your chain of commercial email has shared your address and interest - and it might be an intermediator, not the recipient.
