jmahto Posted September 1, 2017 Share #1 Posted September 1, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) What I like about Leica is that I can create a combination like below: Tele-Elmar 135 M head + focusing helicoid + 14127 + Leica TO-R (Telescope-Ocular to R) + gadget to attach iPhone. luigi bertolotti Posted September 1, 2017 Share #4 Posted September 1, 2017 So... let me understand... The Phone lens "sees through" the ocular of a telescope (in case, a telescope made with Elmar 135 lenshead etc...) ? Fun !!! What's the reasonable cost of a Leica TO-R ? Of course... I'm thinking well BEYOND 135 (Telyts 560 - 800... )

I'm thinking well BEYOND 135 (Telyts 560 - 800... ) Ha Ha, it is not cost effective at all (I paid $195 over eBay). In fact if I put Nex-6 (~ $250 on eBay) at the R mount end (instead of ocular) and use 5x live view zoom (as one does for fine tuning focusing) then I get approximately the similar image as I see in iPhone in the above setup. But it is fun if you snap a tele picture (or even Sun and Moon, yet to be tried) and brag on the internet that it is taken by iPhone. Next, I am going to try it with 400 Telyt + 2X APO + Sun Solar filter to shoot the sun... since sky is the limit for imagination. Simon Posted September 2, 2017 Share #6 Posted September 2, 2017 This is kind of how Apple takes its “Shot by iPhone” pictures. No joke.

Exodies Posted September 3, 2017 Share #9 Posted September 3, 2017 Ah, ok. Stabilizers and tracking devices, "We don't know exactly what gear Apple used on its latest 'Shot on iPhone' commercials, but we're betting it's closer to the crazy rig you see above, than the pared down little stabilizer and smartphone lenses Brownlee touts in his video" - imagination, and wide angle attachment lenses which aren't going to add quality to the image. Simon Posted September 3, 2017 Share #10 Posted September 3, 2017 (edited) At least they’re not lying about using the iPhone sensor. Samsung was hilariously caught out because of a reflection in a vehicle that showed a full-scale professional rig while claiming it was shot by the phone. Apple also advertised the iPhone 7 by showing a guy jumping into a pool while holding it even though it’s only minimally IP-67 rated and not covered for water damage. They are master manipulators! That’s all marketing is really, an exercise in manipulation, smoke and mirrors. Edited September 3, 2017 by Simon
Exodies Posted September 3, 2017 Share #11 Posted September 3, 2017 True. But the iPhone 6 and greater cameras are very good. I'm sure it's possible to claim they are better than they are but I have no complaints about my phone pictures.

True, when I go on trips, the images of the parking spot at the airport where I parked my car always means I'll never forgot where I left it.
