Tony_K Posted August 29, 2017 Share #1 Posted August 29, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just purchased an M-D purchased used from a reputable seller on ebay and it arrived today. The camera is in fantastic condition and came with everything. I'm not sure how long it sat in a box before it arrived, but the battery was completely dead which isn't really a surprise. I put the battery on charge around 6 hours ago and the green light on the charger blinks slowly indicating that it is charging. The problem? 6 hours later the green light is still blinking slowly and I just tried it in the camera and it won't power up. The 80% light did not illuminate after 2 hours as per the manual. Unfortunately, while I have several m9 and mm classic batteries, I do not have another of this particular battery. I guess I will leave it charging over night but my question is whether anyone has had a similar experience with a completely dead M240/262 battery? Could it really not have any charge after 6 hours with the charger appearing to operate normally? Is my charger bad? The battery? I can return the camera but given they are kind of rare, I am really hoping I can make it work. I may ask the seller to exchange the battery and charger if I can't get it working but curious if anyone has had a similar issue with really long charge times in completely drained LI-ion batteries. Thanks.

DaveNC Posted August 30, 2017 Share #2 Posted August 30, 2017 I had to charge my MD battery a long time the first time. After that it charges in about two hours and both lights are solid on. I have a second battery as well, just in case. However, the MD battery lasts longer than any camera I've used since the old days of pre-autofocus film. Weeks with limited use and days of heavy use.
Tony_K Posted September 1, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted September 1, 2017 After charging overnight there was still no power and both lights were flashing rapidly on the charger, so I either received a bad battery or a bad charger or perhaps both. Luckily - the seller (Neptune Photo on eBay) is overnight shipping me me a new battery and a charger via UPS which I have to say is very nice of them going the extra mile to make it right. So hopefully, I'll be able to take it out this weekend.
