If you have this lens please post some photo. I'm interested especially wide open aperture images. Please write the actual focal length and the aperture next to the posted image if you can. I tended to use my T as a 2nd body to whatever M I took with me on specific photo workshops or holidays up until I got an SL. Like my SL, the mid zoom stays on the camera 90% of the time and the longer zoom just used for specific needs where >90mm is required .... which to be honest is not that often. I always took it on holiday but frequently left it behind in the hotel because of this. It is an excellent lens. Pity it doesn't have OIS like the SL 90-280 though ...... Welcome, dear visitor! aufderlauer Posted August 31, 2017 Share #12 Posted August 31, 2017 My general answer to this kind of questions is: there is no standard short tele for the camera available. Any long zoom lens like the 55-135 is a good lens for portraits. Has no big opening of f2, but the longer the focal lengths the shorter seems the range to be where you have the sharp zone in the picture. A very nice picture to demonstrate that is of the falcon? up. If the lens has setting of f2 with around 200mm maybe the beak of the bird was not sharp, only the eyes, depending the distance from lens to the subject. With this lens you are more variable. It's a bit bigger than a 55/2 of course, but you have more flexibility and it is affordable. If I had the money now I would invest for the 11-23, 35/1.4 and 55-135 lenses. If I want a setup of 2 compact lenses only and if available, I would take the 23/2 and 55/2, but the latter is not existing. If one has time for experimenting, you can choose of a big range of manual lenses of Leica M/R, Voigtländer, Zeiss etc. I prefer autofocus for a camera like this. You always can override to manual focus, but never in the other way. If you have longer shootings, you will like to have AF. Quote Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

This covers wide and standard focal lengths in AF; for anything longer, I have M mount lenses in 50 & 75mm (75 & 112 mm equivalent) and I then have the SL zooms, taking me from 135mm to 420mm if I'm game, and don't want to use the SL. Given my marginal use of long lenses I could not justify sinking more than $6K in the SL 90-280mm, however excellent it may be.
