Peter_S Posted August 21, 2017 Share #1 Posted August 21, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi!Yesterday I noticed a vertical line in my M9 images. It is very narrow, and seems to not go all the way through, just about 2/3 of image height. It is not quite in the center of the image, but slightly offset to to the right. I have only seen it at higher ISO, here 1600.Any ideas? Edited August 21, 2017 by Peter_S

Robert M Poole Posted August 21, 2017 Share #2 Posted August 21, 2017 Dead pixels probably. Leica repaired this for free for me www.robertpoolephotography.com

Robert M Poole Posted August 21, 2017 Share #4 Posted August 21, 2017 Robert do you have any idea how they fix it - technically ? They can remap the sensor using software I believe. For me they replaced the sensor as it was the old sensor liable to corrosion. www.robertpoolephotography.com
Peter_S Posted August 21, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted August 21, 2017 OK, thanks, Robert! That does not sound too good, but I see for now how it develops. Do you know if this usually gets worse over time?
R6M6 Posted August 21, 2017 Share #6 Posted August 21, 2017 Similar line (dead pixels) was the reason for replacement of my M9 sensor.

Do you know if this usually gets worse over time? I don't think it'll get worse (someone might be able to confirm this) though once I knew it was there I noticed it more... I couldn't clone it out in Lightroom very well but you might have more luck in PS. Maybe Leica will replace it for free, better to try now while they are still replacing sensors. www.robertpoolephotography.com
Peter_S Posted August 21, 2017 Author Share #8 Posted August 21, 2017 Yes, PS works OK, Lightroom not. That said, it only seems to appear on relatively high ISO images that are slightly underexposed (on purpose) and where exposure is increased in PP. That happens not often, at least in an important/professional context...still, an annoyance. Peter_S Posted August 23, 2017 Author Share #11 Posted August 23, 2017 The new one, corrosion-free. So two birds with one stone does not apply (:
SilentShutter Posted August 23, 2017 Share #12 Posted August 23, 2017 I would let the service fix it - stuff like that annoyies the hell out of me You take a picture and still think about it - you share your pictures and find out later you have forgotten to retouche it
