Interlaken From The Niesen

Twice I have been on the "Sneezing" (="Niesen"), which - sneezing obviously because of a cold (idiomatic expression for being offended) - veiled himself in clouds, just in time when reaching the top.
Thank you for your photo, showing what should have been seen. :)

We were staying in Aeschi Bei Spiez, virtually at the foot of the Niesen, for almost a fortnight and had superb weather. It was just a case of picking your day! Whilst up there having our lunch we watched the clouds slowly envelop the Jungfraujoch on the horizon. The weather always wins in the Alps  ;)

Yes a splendid area, Spiez was the favorite holiday destination of my parents during the 1970s.
In bright weather we paddled with our dinghy boats on Lake Thun, starting just below Spiez Castle.
In sunny-16-weather the mountain group Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau was visited, most preferred by the top station of the Schildhorn cable car above Lauterbrunnen.
Perhaps the Niesen was therefore somewhat neglected.

When the summer months during the 1990s became more rainy in the Bernese Oberland, I preferred the Valais area a little further south, where the weather is often already stabilized by the Mediterranean climate.
Beautiful Switzerland - even if it has become almost not affordable...
